1. The five strategic imperatives for change are:
1. Inspire through purpose
2. Go all in
3. Enable and empower
4. Create clarity and focus
5. Create a culture of learning through “Learn Good”.
2. In the speaker’s words, the top priority in the transformation
process is to start with people- just focus on people. Therefore, the
health, active involvement, and development of staff will be rated
highly, while they are going through the process of change. That is what
stimulates a feeling of ownership, trust, and willingness to work
together, and provides for the noble reason of transformation of people
as its motive power. Hence, this sort of change contrasts with some
other transformations I have either witnessed or personalized, where
most of the dedications are concentrated on structural or procedural
modifications without due thought to how they affect individual persons.
Organizations should put human beings in the first frame and thus
efficiently manage hindrance, maintaining excitement and continuing
change even when it is difficult.
3. Encompassing leadership is a form of leadership that prioritizes
inclusivity, equality, and involvement by listening to and valuing the
contributions, and opinions of all groups, regardless of their
background and status. Having worked in a previous workplace that had
lots of inclusive leadership type, my manager demonstrated a sound
approach to team members, sought feedback, and gave much support on such
issues as diversity and inclusion through his actions. One of the
positives that came out of this experience was the people being more
willing to work together, more creative, and developed a sense of
groupness among team members. Furthermore, we were not without our share
of issues like these: guaranteeing that each view was told, resolving
different viewpoints, and fighting implicit bias. Hence, the trip was
all about a non-discriminatory attitude where everybody found his/her
place in society. In the final sentence, the speaker offers an
introspective stance as a conclusion. I appreciate your understanding of
the reflections I have drawn from Jim Hermeling’s lecture. For me, I
reckon that by adopting these strategic imperatives and promoting
inclusive leaders, the organizations that are in restructuring and
change would have chances to carry out these changes effectively and
become the firms that are resilient, versatile, and of course,
people-oriented.
