Type of assignment:
Individual written case study analysis of 1,000 words in total across Sections 1, 2 and 3 (+/- 10% word count tolerance interval; excluding references and a maximum 1-page appendix).
Please use the provided template on the next page to submit your assignment on Canvas. The template consists of four sections: (a) identifying a key issue; (b) applying theory and concepts discussed within BUSS508; (c) recommendations, and (d) references and supplementary materials.
Please submit your assignment in either Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF (.pdf) format. Please DO NOT submit your assignment as an Apple Pages document, which is not supported by Canvas!
Purpose of the assignment:
This is an analytical assessment. You should NOT summarise the case and should instead conduct an independent analysis supported by additional desktop research (i.e., annual reports, various databases available through the AUT library, tools used within the BUSS508 workshops, etc.).
The purpose of this assessment is (1) to identify a key issue within the case study linked to at least TWO out of the four THEMES discussed in the course, (2) conduct an independent analysis by applying relevant theory and concepts (from the prescribed textbook readings) and (3) provide a few well-articulated and actionable managerial recommendations to the company based on the identified issue.
Conducting analysis:
You are encouraged to identify external secondary sources, including media reports, information provided on company websites, company documents (i.e., annual reports) and market/industry reports from databases (i.e., Euromonitor’s’ Passport database, Statista, etc.). You must still be able to demonstrate your own critical thinking and independent analysis.
You are also encouraged to use the tools discussed and used in BUSS 508 workshops (i.e., the WTO trade map or the Euromonitor International Passport database).
Referencing and academic integrity:
All external sources should be referenced according to the AUT library referencing guidelines for using APA 7ed referencingLinks to an external site..
Please refer to AUT academic integrity guidelines for appropriate referencing and use of AI software, like ChatGPT. Students are strongly discouraged from using any kind of generative artificial intelligence software. Inappropriate use of any such software may result in an academic integrity report and/or being marked down (see marking rubric).
A multi-step process involving various detection software and human judgement will be used to check all suspicious texts for unethical use of AI and other kinds of software. Students should be advised that translation software and language proofing software is permitted, but they need to ensure that their assessment is clearly original and reflects their own original and critical thinking.
Note: You have two submissions. The second submission is meant as “back up” in case you uploaded the wrong file in your first submission. If you make two submissions, markers will only read and mark your second submission. We will not entertain requests for a third submission. Please keep this in mind when you click “Submit”.
