Tutoring Room Simulator
At the tutoring center, there is a friendly rivalry between Melony, the lead mathematics tutor, Carol, the lead composition tutor, and Brandon, the lead biology tutor, about which discipline attracts the most students.  To settle this, they each track the number of students who come in for help in each discipline every day over a period of time.
Click on the button below to include another day in the data set.  The number of mathematics, composition, and biology students who came in for tutoring that day will appear in a new line on the table.

Your Assignment
Help Melony, Carol, and Brandon settle their rivalry by showing that there is no difference in the number of students who seek tutoring between these three disciplines.  You want to have 95% confidence in your result.
Before you begin, you should write the null and alternative hypotheses for the research question, and determine an appropriate sample size.
You will need to determine an appropriate amount of data to collect.  There is no one “correct” choice, but there are wrong choices — if you do not collect enough data, you may not find a statistically significant result, and if you collect too much data, you will have a challenge in analyzing it.
Once you have completed your analysis (a rough draft), create a neatly arranged copy of your work (a final draft) which addresses each of the three prompts in turn.
Prompts
Each prompt will be assessed as a separate item on the grading rubric.
Use the simulation above to collect data on the students who asked for help at the tutoring center.  Sketch a pie chart comparing the total number of students seen by each of the three tutors.  For each of the three tutors, calculate the mean and the standard deviation of the number of students they see per day.
Ignoring the different disciplines, write out a frequency table and sketch a histogram for the number of students any one tutor sees in a day.  Calculate the mean and the standard deviation for this grand total.
State which type of hypothesis test would be appropriate to answer the research question in this scenario.  Perform that hypothesis test.  Write out your conclusion using complete sentences.
