The subject I will be discussing is the differences in mental health across different generations. I will demonstrate how the younger generation have a greater understanding of mental health from a perspective standpoint compared to past generations. However, the crucial elements will be around how we may effectively connect and close this divide. Multiple individuals bear responsibility, however, our current focus should be on improving ourselves. The older generation faced significant social disapproval when seeking assistance, and those who did receive aid often had incorrect diagnoses. The majority of doctors were unaware of the underlying causes of mental health issues in that generation. However, another contributing factor was the promotion of newer medications to patients who lacked comprehension of their own condition. I will discuss the high rate of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among elderly veterans who have not received proper instruction on coping mechanisms for this condition. The absence of knowledge contributes to suicidal conduct and substance abuse. I will collect data to substantiate my claim that the older generation may require greater assistance in addressing mental health issues compared to the younger generation, primarily owing to their limited understanding.
