Topic: The research question is how do different leadership styles affect employ

June 16, 2024

Topic:
The research question is how do different leadership styles affect employee motivation and which leadership style is most effective in enhancing intrinsic motivation with Department of Public Social Service employees?
Notes from professor:
The problem statement is too dictionary-like. Present the issue and you may define your terms, but it is more important to include a presentation of the impacts and the scope of the problem, than a conceptual discussion. Highlight the practical consequences or aspects of your research problems. The research question needs to be revised because it is way too conceptual. Please use a more analytical tone and avoid speech-like expressions.
INTRODUCTION: 1 page
The INTRODUCTION Should be a description double spaced, 1- p of a RESEARCH PROBLEM (PROBLEM STATEMENT)
INCLUDE THE STATEMENT OF THE GAP. INCLUDE THE PROJECT’S RESEARCH QUESTION AND AIM HERE
Background: 1 page
THE BACKGROUND SITUATES THE PROBLEM FURTHER IN EXISTING RESEARCH: IT DESCRIBES THE HISTORY, THE POLICY CONTEXT’ THE ACTORS INVOLVED AND/OR PRESENTS THE PROBLEM IN GREATER DETAILS.
Methodology:
The Methodology should present :  1 page
Please use Jstore and Google scholar.
1- The project’s purpose (reiterate your objective, in more operationalized terms)
2- The general approach  (a qualitative secondary data analyses of archival data / systematic literature review)
3- The exact keywords you entered in the DATABASES + the List of DATABASES YOU HAVE USED TO IDENTIFY YOUR SOURCES
4-The timeframe for publication (year range- usually no more than 5 or 10 years, depending on the availability of sources)
5- The selection protocol and article review process: The inclusion and Exclusion criteria you have used to narrow down your search to about 15-25 sources, no more
6- Any additional Non-Peer reviewed sources you deemed relevant to include (list them).
Literature review: 3 pages
A Literature review, in this case, will be your analysis of the sources you have identified using the systematic review approach. It is important that you
·       USE SECTION HEADERS (second and third levels)
·       USE MULTIPLE SOURCES IN EACH PARAGRAPH
·       USE PROPER APA CITATION STYLE GUIDE  (and include reference list at the end, match all in-text citations
·       WRITE USING PROPER ENGLISH AND PROOFREAD YOUR TEXT
·       ANALYZE, DO NOT JUST SUMMARIZE
·       THIS IS NOT AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
Your Conceptual framework chapter should :
·       PRESENT A THEORETICAL MODEL
·       APPLY THE MODEL
·       USE SECTION HEADERS
·       USE SOURCES
·       BE EDITED AND PROOFREAD
·       GO IN DEPTH AND ALLOW YOU TO BRING CONCEPTUAL CLARITY INTO THE COMPLEXITY OF THIS PHENOMENON (BRIDGE THEORY WITH PRACTICE, OFFER THEORETICAL/CONCEPTUAL INSIGHT, SHOW THEORETICAL INTEGRATION)
·       (Chapter 6) Findings and analysis, 1 page
·       (Chapter 7) Policy implications, 1 page
·       (Chapter 8) Limitations and Recommendations for Further Research;  1 page
·       Chapter 9) Conclusion 1 page
·       and
·       ABSTRACT (Preliminary pages)    paragraph
·
·       There are two approaches you can take with regards to the chapter: “Findings and analysis”. 1- is the summarization of your systematic review or 2- the summary of 2 or 3 extremely relevant sources, that answer the research question so directly (the best of the best of your found sources)- you will not cite these sources in the literature review, you keep them for the findings chapter. This chapter should not be more than 400 words long. (no section headers dividing up the text, this is 1-p and is straight- to the point. Find the best available evidence on the question and insert it here. If your answer is only partial, consider digging deeper into government websites, research institutes, and peer-reviewed data repositories. You must come up with the answer (however imperfect) to the question.
·       The policy implications chapter is where you highlight the meaning of the findings for practitioners and policymakers. Given what you wrote, what concrete policy action should be taken? Interpret your results. Popularize them. Take it a step closer to the policy making process and spell out the policy alternatives that derive from your analysis.
·       The Limitations and further research recommendations will highlight weaknesses of your methodological approach (namely that you were restricted in the data available, that you could/ and did not conduct primary research) and propose alternative methods to investigate the question (for instance, a quantitative analysis using surveys, interviews- but be precise here – who what where when – how). Propose also a few lines of inquiry either based off the gaps found in the research or the findings (new knowledge means new questions must be asked)
·       The conclusion will provide an overview of the project’s goals, methods and findings, and open up the discussion to broader questions in the field, broader implications of this line of work in policy or administration sciences. The conclusion should present key takeaways and present reflections (food for thoughts, so to speak) for the reader.
