Topic for Research Project
You will develop an applied research project in which you will
conduct unique research on the topic of your choice in the field of
education. This research project will be developed across four courses.
This course is the first course in the development of your research
project.

The first step in developing your research project is to choose your research topic.
For this discussion, you will share the topic in which you are
interested in researching. The topic may be from your previous Ed.D.
courses that you have completed in your degree program at Purdue Global
(PG), your discussions with your PG faculty consultant during ED780, if
applicable, an issue that you have observed at your place of work or
other educational institution, a topic that you have read about in an
article, or any other source of inspiration.
Prior to completing your post, locate one article in the PG Library related to your chosen topic.
For your post in this unit’s discussion board, discuss the following:
What topic are you interested in researching for your applied research project?
Why did you choose this topic?
Did you work with a PG faculty consultant during ED780 on refining or narrowing your choice of topic?
Provide the reference and a brief summary of the article related to your chosen topic.
Respond to your classmate’s posts. In your response, provide feedback
to your classmate on the chosen topic for research. What questions or
suggestions do you have about the topic?

This discussion is worth 50 points. Refer to your Discussion Rubric
for specific grading criteria. The deadline for your initial post and
additional responses is Tuesday night at 11:59 p.m. ET; however, you
must participate over multiple days throughout the unit to earn full
credit.
Remember that your goal for discussion is three-fold:
To participate actively over multiple days throughout the unit.
To contribute in a way that adds to the discussion and moves it forward in an original fashion.
To use the course content to inform your posts and responses.
Keep in mind that when you post, you should always reference items you cite — be sure to use APA format for
this. Also, be sure to refer back to the rubric as often as you need to
during the week. The class is all about sharing knowledge, so use
discussions as a way of creating a community resource for yourself and
your colleagues.
