topic: Exploring Multicultural Perspectives in Canadian Immigration Policy
Objective: Write a research paper on a contemporary issue of Canadian political identity. That is, the paper must explore a recent issue relating to the subject matter. While comparison might be relevant, the paper should have a Canadian focus.
The Research Paper has several stages : (1) Proposal (ive attached my previous file please use as a templete and reference)
(4) Final Paper
Proposal: You are required to submit a 2 – 3 page proposal (excluding working bibliography). The purpose of the proposal is to provide you with an opportunity to explore the preliminary stages of the topic and allow the instructor to provide constructive feedback. The proposal should:
Include a working topic, thesis or research question.
Explain why the topic is important, relevant, interesting and worthy of detailed study.
Explain how the topic is related to other published research on this topic.
Must include a working bibliography of at least eight sources (four must be scholarly);
cannot include course readings.
The proposal has a hard deadline. This means that no late proposals will be accepted. You must submit a proposal in order to submit a final paper. After the proposal has been returned, you must consult with the instructor if you would like to change the topic substantially. You may be asked to draft a new proposal for the new topic. There are samples of strong proposals on CourseLink.
Research paper should:
Have a contemporary and Canadian focus. That is, the paper must explore a recent
issue related to the subject matter.
Include an identifiable thesis statement. Organization, evidence and argumentation
should progress logically from an identifiable thesis.
Include a statement that outlines the organization of the paper and, where, relevant
use topic sentences and/or headings to reinforce the organization.
Support claims with evidence.
Demonstrate engagement with the scholarly political science literature beyond the
course reading materials, though course materials can be used.
The minimum number of sources for this paper is 15 (e.g. journal articles, books, book chapters, government documents and grey literature). This number does not include media articles, blog posts or other short online sources; however, these
sources may be extremely relevant.
