To have a background on what medical informatics is? In the health care setting the data is collected and entered into the electronic health records, but how do you use that data? Clinical medical informatics brings the patient, data and technology to study, organize and communicate the information in a more meaningful clinical setting. The medical professional uses the informatic to analyze data for positive changes, which includes improved overall health care quality, more robust workflows, increasing productivity, reducing and preventing medical errors, lowering the cost, increasing efficiencies and improving outcomes to name just a few.
Ways to improve training for medical informatics would be to determine the tasks that are responsible for obtaining ways to leverage data to improve the services provided by the health care profession. The medical informatics person should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. There is a lot of collaboration between many different professionals such as clinical staff and managers. You need to demonstrate the interpersonal skill to succeed in a team environment, which is very important requirement in the health care informatics field. You should also be able to problem solve. This is very important to understand, as majority of your day will consist of problem solving. The informatic expert will be asked from many different health care professions to help with short cuts, maximizing to be the most efficient. Another trait that should be strong is programming knowledge, if you don’t have specific training on this, you can research on line resources for help. The ability to communicate is always a must in any profession and when working in a team environment the communication skill is needed. Lastly, the medical informatics professional should have the ability to work with health data systems. You can obtain courses on such topics, which you would find an degree program that would offer this.

Since public health informatics purpose is to continue to improve quality of healthcare for the community, ensure community needs are being met and improve the statistics for future studies. Providing accurate information can help prevent future issues within an organization and keeps them informed incase something has to be updated.
In my opinion most mistakes or wrong data can be prevented if each medical organization was most mindful of the learning needs of each employee, knowing each employee’s needs and capabilities can make certain data easier to work with and report. Training programs exists to address the growing needs of professionals worldwide who are using technology to improve public health in their respective countries. (Joshi & Perin 2012). While not a lot of people have kept up with the technology advances and it can be an expense many companies do not want to invest in the equipment and train their employees as this can a huge expense for the corporation. After seeing some of the graphs, it makes me wonder how some of these company’s function. In my opinion every time we need something we tend to go to the “expert” as their job is to be trained on that specific field but if they are not well trained or knowledgeable in their job then it creates further issues and information that could be useful is left out.
