Examples of MLA quotation and citation format:

•Any stage directions have been inserted by the editor.
Stage directions are not part of the text. Do not refer to them or quote them

1. Quote
three or fewer lines within the body of your text, enclosed in quotation
marks. Include slashes to indicate line
breaks.

2. Quote
four or more lines in a block quote indented five spaces, and not enclosed in
quotation marks. Do not use slashes. Do
not include block quotes of more than six lines. Double-space the block quote.
