Students will submit a Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (1026) court report. This report will provide a recommendation as to the individual’s readiness for discharge to the community or whether the individual should be retained and treated in the state hospital. Students will support their recommendation by providing evidence that addresses the legal requirements for the commitment type. This evidence will include a BRIEF (1 – 2 paragraph) write-up summarizing the results of the Historical-Clinical-Risk-Management-20 (HCR-20). As this is a clinical document, it is NOT to be written in APA format. Write this report as if you are writing to the court. You may choose the subject of your report but it must be an actual person convicted of a crime. Examples of an offender include Jeffrey Dahmer, Aileen Wuornos, Ted Bundy. There are many resources in publication as well as videos that provide information related to these individuals. Interviews with these individuals can also be found on YouTube.
