This
final project aims to assess your understanding of mental health disorders and
your ability to apply diagnostic criteria to a specific case study. You will
analyze the presented information, conduct a comprehensive assessment, and
create an appropriate psychiatric diagnosis. Follow these instructions to
complete the project.
In
your paper,
·
Select a case study from
a peer-reviewed or scholarly source, such as a journal article, textbook, or
reliable online database. Ensure the case study provides sufficient information
about the individual’s background, symptoms, and relevant psychosocial factors.
·
Provide a brief overview
of the individual’s demographic information (age, gender, etc.), sociocultural
factors that may impact presentation of the disorder and the presenting
problem(s) or reason for seeking mental health assistance.
·
Conduct a thorough
assessment of the individual’s symptoms and psychosocial factors.
o
Consider their
emotional, cognitive, and behavioral presentation. Use reliable diagnostic
criteria from recognized manuals (e.g., DSM-5-TR or ICD-11) to guide your
analysis.
·
Apply your knowledge of
mental health disorders to create an appropriate psychiatric diagnosis for the
case study. Justify your diagnosis by providing evidence from the case study
and connecting it to the relevant diagnostic criteria.
·
Discuss the potential
challenges and differential diagnoses that may have been considered during the
diagnostic process.
o
Highlight any additional
information that would be beneficial to have to make a more accurate diagnosis.
·
Present a comprehensive
summary of the case study, including a discussion of the implications of the
diagnosis for the individual’s treatment and prognosis.
o
Consider the potential
evidence-based treatment options and interventions that align with the
diagnosis will be based on the list of measurable items that appear here.
