Research Presentation Topic
Objective: share your research topic with the class as well as how you plan to approach the topic selected
Instructions: Think about a topic related to marriage and family you would like to learn more about, present your topic, and plan for approaching the topic to the class. The approach to the topic must be sociological and needs to be different from the approach the textbook and course notes take. The intent of the research presentation is to present additional or new information on a topic relevant to marriage and family.

Presentation
Research a topic related to marriage and family such as: adoption, single parent families, dual-income families, working class families, privileged families, divorce, skipped-generation families, donor families, family ties, kinships, disposable ties, Hispanic families, African American families etc. You will need to fully research the topics selected and create a presentation on the topic. The research completed and presented must go beyond the information covered in this course.
Read any previous postings to this activity to ensure you are either researching a different topic from your classmates or, if you are researching a topic your classmate is working on, your approach to the topic is different from the approach your classmate is taking.
Share with the class the topic you will be researching as well as the approach you will be taking when researching the topic. You want to present a clear description of your idea/plan for the research presentation. The description provided should be 150-200 words.
Review at least one of your fellow classmates’ postings, and in at least six sentences, do one of the following:
Offer an additional point of view to help expand the idea presented in the posting you are replying to.
Suggest ways in which an idea presented in the posting you are replying to could be more clearly expressed.
Identify some resources your classmate can look at when completing their research.
Explain to your classmates some of the requirements for the research presentation they need to consider when putting the final presentation together.
Select a posting other than the posting(s() you have responded to and like at least one of your fellow classmate’s postings.
If you used an AI tool to generate ideas for the response(s) submitted for this activity, at the beginning of the work, you will need to include a paragraph that identifies the AI tool(s) used when working on this task and outline how the AI tool was used to assist you in completing the assigned task. It is important to be honest about how you used AI to assist you in this activity and to identify areas where your own thoughts can be found within your completed work. The statement should clearly explain how you used the AI tool to gather the information used within your work. For example, if I used Grammarly to help me fix some grammatical errors in the response provided, a possible AI Design Statement could be: “After using my own words to express my thoughts and ideas, I used Grammarly to check for spelling errors and correctness. I accepted the spelling changes Grammarly suggested and thought about the sentence structure, correctness, and word usage suggestions offered by Grammarly. In some cases, I accepted the changes, and in other instances, I dismissed the changes”.
