This week’s case example will be the case in Chapter 7 “Satanic Panic” of the Perry and Szalavitz text.
Macro Dimension: The macro dimension focuses on large systems – (e.g., state systems, national systems, laws, regulations, insurance industry, research, policy, advocacy, ACE study, system change, mental health systems, etc.). Macro is not clinical or directly individual.
After reading the case example,
Discuss how the larger systems (listed above) contributed to the trauma the children experienced. Include your rationales for your observations.
What kinds of system changes and policies would you recommend?
In what ways would you hope that these changes might affect the children?
Use at least three references with unlimited citations from the three course texts to support your ideas. Students are to write using their own words/summary of the material and all sources must be cited. Reliance only on direct quotes is discouraged (students are required to paraphrase).
