This week, we are learning about Ethical Dilemmas. The tricky thing about ethical dilemmas is that there is not always one clear way to resolve the issue. There are a lot of contributing factors that will play a role in what decision we decide to move forward with. Looking at Figure 11.1 Conceptualizing an Ethical Dilemma in your textbook (pg. 439 or PowerPoint Slide 18), I want you to follow the steps through an ethical dilemma.
For your original post:
1. You will discuss an ethical dilemma. You may discuss one you have encountered in the past or make one up. Make sure it meets criteria for there to be a problem and be able to proceed with the rest of the steps in Figure 11.1.
2. You will provide some information regarding the issue. Use PREPARE To help you (See PowerPoint Slide 19).
3. Discuss what value and ethical standards apply to the dilemma. (Pretty much, what evidence do you have to support that this may be an ethical issue?) (you may cite the standards and this can be your external source if you use NASW)
4. Research possible established principles for dealing with this dilemma. (you may use your external source here)
5. Identify ONE possible alternative and pros and cons to this alternative.
