This week I want you to begin a partial draft of the body of the report (it’s not necessary to include the front matter yet — it’s probably better to write that section last, after you have written the body).
Format this draft following the spacing and formatting requirements outlined in the report assignment description. This partial draft should include:
A draft of the introduction section that includes the background, problem/purpose, and scope (be sure you actually include these specific subheadings in the intro section to help organize it/show you have them). Please follow the directions in the assignment description for this. You can rephrase some of this from what you have in the proposal, but make sure you revise this to talk about it being a report and look at any comments I left on the proposal as you start writing the report.
A draft of the “Research Methods Section” — The final version of this will be a summary of the research you did for the report — where you looked for sources, any source material you found particularly helpful, and any sources you had trouble finding. For this draft version, just summarize what research you have done so far and what you still plan to do for the rest of the semester. Then you should go back and edit/update this section before you turn in the final version. The first two student examples that I posted near the top of the Modules page have “Research” sections you can look at as examples.
At least one source that is cited with both an in-text citation and a Works Cited/References list for the sources you have cited so far in this draft. I want to see this so I can give you feedback on any citation edits you will need to make before the final version.
An outline of the “Options Discussion” section– Using bullet points or roman numerals, briefly lay out how you plan to organize this section in your report so you have a roadmap of where to go next.
In order to get full credit for this draft assignment, your draft needs to:
Include all of the sections mentioned above
Be at least 500 words long
If you are further along, feel free to submit more of a draft. Visit the assignment description for more details on what to include in these body sections.
