This semester you will be developing a digital collection for a
collection of your choice. This is a two-part assignment that begins with
your proposal and plan. In this assignment you will be answering
some important questions about the collection you intend to build such
as what digital materials the collection will include, which digital
platform you plan to use (e.g. Omeka through https://create.ou.edu/), if
there are any copyright or other intellectual property issues with the
objects you plan to use, and how you plan on maintaining the collection
after the semester is over, if you plan to maintain it.
Be sure you answer each question COMPLETELY AND FULLY and
give me as much detail as possible so I can approve your collection. If
you plan to partner contact me as soon as you know who you will be
working with.
Undergraduates: Your collection will include 25 items and may
include personal collection materials still following the underlying
principles for good digital collections).

> What are the goals and objectives in building this collection? Are there any similar collections that may duplicate, compete, or cooperate with this collection? If so, provide explanation of why you think the collection(s) is similar and the URLs for each.

> What format(s) are these objects currently in? Are they “born digital” or will they have to be converted into a digital version? What technical issues are involved in using and accessing these digital objects? What technical issues are involved in using and accessing their physical counterparts (if any)?
> What platform will be used for this collection? Do you foresee any problems in using this platform? Why have you made this particular decision?
> What metadata schema will be used? How does it apply the FAIR principlesLinks to an external site.? (Note, if you are using ContentDM or Omeka you have limited choices, Omeka diverts to Dublin Core). Be sure you are aware of your options for the platform you choose.)
> Will you be using a special subject vocabulary for purposes of description and retrieval? Why or why not? If so, please provide the name of the subject vocabulary and
URL if available online.
