This is what the professor says “Select one of the questions below to address in your essay. Your main idea should provide an answer to the question you pick. Students must examine a minimum of five primary sources (provided in the weekly modules and the American Yawp Reader) to prove their main idea. This is an analytical essay which means students are not only submitting a historical narrative of events but must provide explanations (analysis) that highlight the significance of the events focused on and the primary evidence analyzed to prove the main idea. ”
This is the question “The Progressive Era highlights a period of economic and political reform, technological and scientific changes, and the introduction of new ethnic groups into the United States. How did African Americans, Southern and Eastern European immigrants, White middle-class Americans, American farmers, and Industrialists conceive of this period? How did each group benefit or not during this period? ”
I’ll provide all of the sources available and you can choose any five you think will do.
These are the requirements on the paper on the syllabus “Each essay will be 1500 to 1800 words long (roughly 5-6 pages if you have 1” margins, 12 font, Times New Roman, and double-spaced). Essays less than 1500 words receive an entire letter grade deduction (See Rubric for specific directions). All research papers are to be typed using Times New Roman, 12 pt. font with standard one-inch margins. Papers should be double-spaced and submitted as Word documents or PDFs ONLY. In addition to the secondary readings studied in class students must examine at least five primary sources (see weekly modules for primary evidence) to prove essay thesis and paragraph main ideas. No outside research is allowed (points will be deducted for outside sources used unless approved by the instructor).”
