This is place of a term paper you don’t want to write. Give it “term paper” effort!
1. Collect 10 political (editorial) cartoons published for the first time between January 2024 and April 26, 2024, that are relevant to the government of the United States, Texas, or local government. These can address domestic or foreign policies or events.
2. Record the date and where the cartoon was published for the first time.
3. Analyze the cartoon:
describe what you see,
why it is significant,
what the cartoon says to you, and
your opinion on the event/issue depicted

4. Project is due 5 pm CT Friday April 26. Submit through Canvas. Power Point works great.
5. This is in place of a long, boring term paper – give this assignment the attention it is due.
6. To receive full credit, you MUST include your opinion.
7. Be sure to proof read – mistakes detract from your message.
8. Turn in any time before the day of the actual due date and receive up to 5 points of extra credit added to your grade on the project.

This cartoon depicts the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (War, Famine, Pestilence, & Death) being joined by a new fifth horseman. This is a play the Four Horsemen from the Biblical books of Revelations, Ezekiel, and Zachariah as well as Viktor Vasnetsov’s famous painting.

The idea is that the end of the world or the final reckoning for mankind will be brought by these four factors.
In this cartoon, the famous four are joined by a new and improved participant – Misinformation on his handcrack no less!!! (Handcrack is “Hughes” for electronic devises we are all addicted to – phones, tables, etc)
I think Bramhall nailed this one – misinformation has always been a powerful tool. Now more than ever, it is important to be an independent thinker! Just because we find it on our handcracks doesn’t make it true! One of my favorite memes is the following “quote” from Abraham Lincoln: The problem with the Internet is it can be very hard to verify information.
