This is my assignment structure:
A research proposal is a document written by a researcher who seeks project approval or funding to conduct a research project. Any proposal, including the one you develop, has to have sufficient information to convince your reader that you have a suitable grasp of research practices in your field, that you understand relevant literature and related issues, and that your research design is sound, and will enable you to do what you aim to do.
In other words, you need to convince your reader that you know what you will do and know how you will get there in terms of project outcomes. The quality of your research proposal will depend not only on the quality of the proposed project, but also on the quality of the proposal writing. Your proposal writing will need to be coherent, clear and compelling. To draw on an analogy, proposal writing is like advertising, trying to convince someone to buy what you want to sell.
Assessment format
The proposal should adhere to the following structure and use the corresponding headings. A suggested word count has been included for each section, but you do not have to follow this precisely. The approximated word count just provides an idea about how to plan your writing, and not spend too much time on less significant sections.
1. Research title – including student name, ID, and discipline (No more than 20 words)
2. Introduction (approx. 1000 words) including:
– Contextual/background information
– Problem statement
– Research question
– Aims and objectives
3. Literature review (no word count, copy paste the literature review I have done before)
4. Research Design (approx. 1000) including:
– Methodology
– Research methods
– Methods of analysis
5. Ethical and UniSA ethics considerations, if appropriate (approx. 200 words)
6. Conclusion (approx. 300 words) including:
– Significance
– Impacts
– Limitations
10. Reference list (not counted in the word count), minimum 15 scholarly references.
11. Appendices – including a research timeline (not included in word count)
The methodology I am using is a combine methodology of case studies (Sydney, Darwin, and Songdo) and comparative data (In terms of security and in terms of privacy)
