This is based on the main character in the 2006 film Candy, which is based on heroin addiction.

Based on the addiction-related film that you chose, you will write a case analysis of a character who has a substance abuse or addiction problem. If your film is not on the list I provided, you need to run it by me first. You may have to pick a point in the film at which to write about the character because his or her addiction may evolve during the time of the film. You may also have to conjecture wisely about aspects of the character’s life if certain details are only hinted at or not shown. You need to complete all parts of the paper so if the movie does not depict something, then make up something reasonable.
You should use APA Style (do title page but no abstract). You should use headings and sub-headings.The body of the paper should be at least 4 pages but should be longer if needed to be thorough. You should incorporate at least 2 scholarly sources other than textbooks (from any course), but you should use as many as you need to support your ideas. The assignment is worth 200 points and should be turned in via assignments. Each of the sections outlined below is worth 25 points. The overall quality of writing, grammar, appropriate sources, and the use of APA style will be worth 50 points. You will turn the paper in in three parts, get feedback on your part, and then, at the end, incorporate the feedback for a final draft.
The paper should include the following:
1) A biopsychosocialspiritual description of the character and relevant details about the character’s biography
2) A description of the substances that he or she uses/abuses (including a detailed description of frequency/amounts/method etc), how those particular substances affect him or her currently and how it affects recovery prospects.
3) Identify the diversity considerations for the character and how these should be taken into account in the recovery process. These could include culture, race, gender, SES, disability, religion, etc. You should base these considerations on scholarly sources.
4) Discuss the family system that surrounds the addiction and how it contributes to the addiction.
5) Describe what your harm assessment would be for this character at the point in time about which you are writing about.
6) Discuss where the character is in terms of stages of change. Provide evidence and rationale.
7) Discuss where the character is in terms of a developmental recovery stage based on ONE of the developmental recovery models. Provide evidence and rationale.
8) Identify the substance use DSM diagnosis (with code and any specifiers) with a rationale & evidence for the diagnosis. Also, discuss if you believe there may be a co-occurring disorder (you don’t have to provide a precise DSM diagnosis for the co-occurring disorder).
