This is an original paper written by each individual student in partial fulfillment of the Writing Enhanced designation for the course. Please review handout given to you by Dr. Walker as the basis for this 8 to 10 paper.
Even though the ethics decision was a team consensus, this specific report should be written from your individual perspective. Please write the report to include pertinent details assuming that the report reader does NOT have access to the Ethics module detail. Do not copy memos in detail, but a summary of the manager’s positions should be included. Also include the details of the options available. You may copy the options table content into your report. Include “Copyright 2016 Capsim, Inc” at the bottom of the options table.
Required Sections (include headings exactly as listed below).
Overview
A one page overview of the Ethics Issue raised by the memos stated in ethics module. This should be a good summary of the potential ethical issues that you identified prior to voting on the options in the simulation. You must also include which ethical theories are basis for your decision such as Utilitarianism, Respect for the Individual, etc.
Background for the reader
You must include a background summary of the situation which would be a minimum of a paragraph describing the overall situation. This paragraph must provide enough detail that a reader unfamiliar with the situation would understand the situation after they read your paragraph.
Description of Options
Create a one paragraph overview and list of the options available. This may be presented in paragraph or table format.
Option Selection
Which option did you initially select as an individual? State the option and document why you initially selected this option. Following the documentation of the initial personal option, document what the TEAM option selection was. Also in include in this section what discussion occurred and how the TEAM made their final option selection. Include any discussion regarding why other options may not have be selected. Also include any dissenting team members and their justification for not voting with the team. Discuss why, if any, team member selected or defaulted to “No option selected”
Repercussions and results of Ethics Decision selected
In this section discuss the short term and long term impact the ethics decisions had on the team subsequent financial results. Were there any unforeseen consequences or unintended consequences based on the ethics decision (be specific). I would also suggest that each team member review the current and future ethics decisions impact and documented in the Ethics Plug-in option, Debrief, and then select ethics topic to display voting history, decision selected, and year-by-year impact to your team.
Summary
If you had the opportunity to revisit the ethics decision: (1) would you retain the same ethics option or change it? (2) Which stakeholders were considered when making the initial decision? (3) Which ramifications or consequences of the ethics decision surprised you? (These could be good or bad consequences.) Based upon results-to-date, did your team make a superior option selection over the competition? Explain why or why not.
