This is a review/essay paper for my Ecology class. My biome for this paper is Tropical Grassland. She talked a lot about in text citing and how she would rather us Oversite than undersite. I will provide/copy and paste clear instructions from the professor for you to follow. I have also attached a graph to include in the paper as well that I got from three of the papers that I have attached below. Please use the papers that I have attached for information and you may use extra papers if needed on your own just please make sure they are primary research papers (in which MUST include methods and results part), but try to use my papers as much as possible (if you do once again please make sure they are primary literature research paper). 1. The Written Component: Each pair will turn in a 7-9 page paper (double spaced, 12 point font, normal margins). The paper is 7-9 pages of text; this does not include the required cover page, nor required reference list/works cited page. You must include a minimum of one graph (also does not count towards the 7-9 pages of text); you may choose to reference and include other figures and graphs as well. All figures can go in an appendix at the end of the paper. The paper will be written in standard English, free from grammar mistakes, and using proper in-text citations (APA style= author name, year). The reference list at the end can be APA or MLA style. You MUST cite your sources—ALL sources!—even the ones used in background information! Additionally, there should be NO quotations- everything in scientific writing is paraphrased into your own words, not copied (quoted) from the original source. You are required to include the following references: minimum 3 primary references that will be used to create your graph PLUS minimum 3 primary references used in the rest of your paper (total of MINIMUM 6 primary literature articles). The references for your graph should be as recent as possible (10 years max, 2012-2022); the others may be within the previous 20 years (2002-2022). These 6 references should be used throughout your paper. Additional background sources may be used but must be scientific and high quality (e.g., your textbook or other books, reputable websites such as EPA, NOAA, museums). You should NEVER be using Wikipedia or other online encyclopedias with dated references. Be critical of your sources! I am happy to check over sources prior to writing the paper to make sure they are ok! The paper should be comprehensive, cohesive and well written, and flow well. The paper should discuss facts and characteristics of your biome. You should include information on the abiotic parameters of the biome, specific adaptations animals and plants have that inhabit the biome; population dynamics and reproduction; biological interactions between species within the biome that control the community dynamics (i.e., food webs); interactions of the living organisms with the abiotic system within the ecosystem (i.e., nutrient cycling, decomposition); and anthropogenic impacts on the biome worldwide (other tha climate change; i.e., urbanization, pollution). Lastly, you want to specifically discuss the impact of climate change on the biome. You will make a claim about how climate change is affecting the biome using your 3 (or more) primary resources (this is your thesis statement!). The paper is more in-depth than the presentation, and does not need as many background facts as the presentation will feature. Tips for the paper: 1. Make sure its cohesive and flows well. Use subheadings to separate out subject areas of the paper 2. You need a COVER PAGE with your name/title of the paper, and you need a REFERENCE LIST at the end (MLA or APA style, in alphabetical order).  These do NOT count towards your 6-8 page minimum.  Also note- 6 pages means 6 FULL PAGES–not 5 pages and one line onto the 6th! 3. You MUST use proper citations.  Proper citing means in text citations with the (author, year).  if more than 3 authors you use the first author, et al. (for example Fitzgerald et al., 2020). 4. Your paper is an overview of the biome, with specific attention to climate change.  You should close your paper with the discusion of climate change, including your created figure and any evidence from your primary literature sources. Again, the climate change part is only like 20% or so of the total paper- the rest is all about your biome! 5. Feel free to use subheadings to divide up your paper. i am always available to see a rough draft and offer any pointers! just dont wait until the last minute -Professor! In order to get FULL credit, you must.. “Cover page, spacing and font follow instrutions: 12 point double spaced, normal margins, include cover page with title/names, include reference list (reference/cover do not count towards page length) References listed and formatted correctly” – format. “Citations are correct, in-text style (author, year), used appropriatly. Grammar is free from mistakes” – Grammar & Citations. “Authors give thorough overview of characteristics of specific biome. Detailed information regarding abiotic features, adaptations of specific plant and animal populations, species interactions, and anthropogenic impacts on the system were provided” – Information. “Authors use detailed information, results and conclusions, from currrent literature highlighting the biome. Experimental findings are discussed in the context of the specific biome given and relating to the background facts provided (see above)” -Incorporation of current literature. “Data from several source is synthesized to create an original analysis of how climate change is impacting a particular facet of the biome. Source data is cited, but use in combination with other sources to create a new graphic. Data is analyzed and discussed within the paper. Graph contains proper axis labels, title, error bars or other statistics (as appropriate)” -Data analysis: Climate Change.
