The assignment is a longer essay that is designed to test your ability to apply your knowledge of government and politics to a concrete, real world situation. I am grading you based on your understanding of the assigned readings, so rely on the textbook to inform your responses.
You may address any aspect of government or politics that we have covered this semester that you feel is relevant to answering the questions, but you must rely on the assigned readings from the course for your answers unless noted otherwise. This means you need specific citations that support your answers from any of the assigned textbook readings that you feel are relevant to your response.
The essay must be 600 – 750 words in length, which is approximately three pages of double-spaced text.

Grading Rubric: 50 points total
20 points: Demonstrated understanding of key terms and concepts. You must demonstrate your understanding of key terms and concepts by referencing the proper and relevant chapters from the assigned readings we have covered throughout the semester.
15 points: Proper grammar. The final essay should be approximately three pages long and written in an essay format. This means the essay is broken into paragraphs. Each paragraph should be 5 – 8 sentences in length with full sentences. The writing should be in the academic style with minimal grammatical errors and written in a clear and concise manner. This includes being able to apply key terms and concepts accurately to make your arguments and main points. Do not include titles for each question or the questions themselves. Write the essay as a single document without sub-headings.
10 points: Word length. The essay should be no less than 600 words and no more than 750 words. The word count does not include name, title, or reference list. Only the body of the essay text will be counted.
5 points: Proper formatting. The final essay should be properly formatted as either a Word or PdF file, and you must provide citations, both in-text and a Works Cited section, using an academic format such as MLA, Chicago, APA, etc.. The final submitted document will also include properly spaced paragraphs and easy to read.

What were the three biggest political or governmental roadblocks to properly addressing the COVID pandemic?
– In other words, why didn’t / couldn’t the government do more to get it under control?
What powers does the legislative branch have to address a pandemic?
What powers does the judicial branch have to address a pandemic?
What powers does the executive branch have to address a pandemic?
