April 29, 2024

This assignment will represent the sum total of work conducted throughout the semester on your chosen topic. You will describe your chosen policy topic, explain how each level of government has an influence on your chosen topic, analyze the significance of key stakeholders, community leaders, private groups, and the public, and make recommendations for how each level of government could better manage your chosen topic.
Write a 1500-word minimum essay explaining how the government interacts and influences your chosen policy topics. The paper should incorporate the totality of research, lessons, concepts, and assignments accumulated throughout the semester. Be mindful of the following:
Explain and describe!
Don’t just summarize your research, but explain its significance and how each level of government influences your chosen topic.
Establish how your research connects not only to your chosen topic but with each other.
Analyze and information!
Compare and contrast each level of government, their respective powers and responsibilities, available resources, public opinion and community engagement, and key stakeholders.
Establish the significant context and history surrounding your topic at each level of government (past action, legal/case history, civil rights, legislative/executive action, etc.).
Make recommendations!
You’ve expressed your thoughts and concerns about your topic all semester, all while learning about what the government has done and can do, so explain that!
Make sure you are connecting your thoughts and opinions on what government can do with the information you have gathered (what government CAN do, what advocacy groups have demanded, what politicians have supported, etc.).
Be detailed and thorough!
You’ve had an entire semester to prepare for this single paper, and I’d hate for you not to put all that time and effort to good use.
Don’t leave any info unused, any fact unstated, or any statement unsupported! You’ve done great work all semester long, so use this as an opportunity to showcase it!
Using a Word or PDF document (Not a Google Doc, Text Document, or Pages file), upload your assignment using the TurnItIn.com tool and make sure it adheres to the following:
Include a Cover Page with your policy area included in the subtitle.
Policy area meaning: Education Policy, Healthcare Policy, Environmental Policy, etc.
Include a Works Cited page at the end of your paper.
In-text citations must be included whenever referencing researched information.
Avoid excessive direct quotes.
Neither the Cover Page nor the Works Cited page count towards the 1500-word minimum.
Formatting Instructions
Font: Times New Roman 12pt
Spacing: Double
Margins: 1 inch
Friendly reminder, Google Docs defaults to 1.15 spacing and Ariel 11 font, so be sure to change those!
