Guidelines for writing reviews of articles
First: briefly summarize the article. This means: write a couple of sentences about what the article highlights. Keep in mind always that the exercise is about synthesizing information.
Second: summarize in more details the content of each section of this article, as each section addresses important issues.
Third: write a brief summary of the conclusions section.
Use your own words! Do not copy quotes from the article.
Specific items to keep in mind: Your writing may be guided by the (some or all, as applicable) following questions:
What is the main purpose/objective of the article/reading? (or: what is that the author(s) is/are trying to do with this article?)
What arguments (data, evidence, theories, etc.) are used in order to develop the main premise (premises) of the article?
What are the main conclusions (or summary and concluding remarks if not strict conclusions) the authors arrive to?
Do YOU think the authors accomplished what they set out to do? Was this article informative to YOU? Did YOU like it? (for example: is it well written? easy to read? a total waste of time?)
