This assignment provides doctoral students the opportunity to research a community or organizational based inequality that impacts a historically marginalized population.
For example, women in the workplace, LGBTQ+ community, Asian American attacks during the COVID-19, hiring practices of minority candidates, and limited presence of persons of color in leadership roles in an organization. Below are the components of the paper:
Share the background of the community or organization
Discuss the Problem (the inequality) using current literature from peer reviewed journals published within the last five years
Discuss the impact of the Problem (the inequality). What population in the community or organization is impacted? Give examples with citations from the current literature. Discuss the implicit bias, microaggression, identify issues faced, race relations and other disparities impacting equality of the population.
Describe how the Problem (the inequality) is viewed by the majority population Meaning, those not impacted by the inequality. Use the current literature to support this portion of the paper.
Critically analysis how the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, North American Association of Christians in Social Work, National Association of Black Social Workers, and other national associations promoting equality for diverse population can be used to address the Problem (the inequality)
Identify 5-7 stakeholders that can be partners to support the community or organization to address the Problem (the inequality).
Offer a summary of what was learned from research the Problem (the inequality), the community or organization and how can this knowledge be used to prepare for a career in a clinical, academic or leadership role. Be detailed and support this section of the paper with current peer reviewed literature published in the last five years
The paper should include 5 – 8 peer reviewed journal citations with publications within the last five years
Use APA guidelines to inform the scholarly presentation and landscape of the paper
This paper should be 5-7 pages (not including cover and reference pages)
