The Mexican-American War, fought between 1846 and 1848, was a pivotal event in the history of both Mexico and the United
States. This essay requires you to delve into the causes, characteristics (leaders, challenges, strategies, tactics,
innovations), consequences and historical impact of the war, shedding light on the geopolitical, economic, and social factors
that led to the conflict. It also explores the war’s aftermath and how it shaped the relationships between the two nations and
influenced subsequent events in North America. In addition, a comparison of the (equipment, training, weapons,
organization, innovations, etc.) between U.S. soldiers in the Mexican-American War and pre-Revolution colonial militia in the
17th century (1600s) will be required.
