These chapters could not be more relevant than they are today, right? Everything you are watching on the news or reading about on social media connects back to these two chapters, and that’s the basis for this assignment.
For this assignment you are going to use another piece of freeware from Infogram.com (Links to an external site.). Here again, you will use only the freeware and you’ll need to play with this a bit to learn it. Also figure out how to save your Infograms or get a sharable link. Use your Quincy College email to set up your free account.
First, reflect upon the types of Social Structure theories (3 of them) listed on p. 166 of the text (it’s the boxed insert in the Social Structure Theories section, labeled “Theory in Perspective: Types of Social Structure Theories”), and upon the 5 types of Social Process theories on p. 198 of the text (it’s the boxed insert in the “Types of Social Process Approaches” section, labeled “Theory in Perspective: Types of Social Process Theories”) . That gives you 8 theories to think about.
Pick one perspective from each chapter and make an Infogram explaining that perspective using current events as the examples or talking points. You can use any events or examples you choose as long as they help demonstrate or explain the theory.
The way you craft these connections is up to you, this is where your creativity comes in. I am giving you all the license you need to be as creative as you wish in drawing up these connections but in the end your Infogram should demonstrate the perspective you picked (show how it looks in real life).
As far as the Infogram goes, you can use any template you wish but the Infogram must be created by you and must make sense. Do not make this a super complex connection, just include enough materials to make the point. Make it clean and neat, then get a sharable link and submit to Canvas. Again, do not send me the URL from the address bar; you need the sharable link from the Infogram template itself. There is also a helpful video in the Resource module.
