April 4, 2024

there’s a total of 7 assignments out of 16 and they’re labeled by weeks. can you please submit each week in a separate file, for a total of 7 files.
I will make 3 more orders with 6 pages per order within the next 2 weeks as well.
Homework 1:
1. (18 pts) Look at the three writing prompts below. If these were papers you had to write, create a specific, focused thesis statement for each. Remember that a thesis statement should not be posed as a question.  It should be specific enough to give the reader an idea of the over organization/focus of the paper. This website is a great resource for guidance on writing a strong thesis statement.
* Prompt 1:  Choose one of the current US space treaties (Outer Space Treaty of 1967, the Commercial Space Act of 1984) and write a paper analyzing the greatest strengths and weaknesses of the treaty.
* Prompt 2:  Evaluate which major space program/project (e.g., Apollo, Space Shuttle, ISS, Hubble, Sputnik, etc) has had (or is having) the greatest social impact on the world. Write a paper presenting a convincing, evidence-based argument for your choice.
* Prompt 3: Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of solar and nuclear power for spacecraft.  Consider both power for sensor and other on-board systems and for propulsion.
2. (40 pts) Suppose you were asked to write a research paper for the writing prompt below.  Find 5 scholarly (peer-reviewed) sources that would be relevant to use for the paper. Create a citation (in APA format) and annotation for each.  The annotation should include both a summary and an evaluation of the source. Please see the following link for an excellent and concise introduction to the concept of writing annotated bibliographies. You must upload all five full articles along with this homework to receive credit. Remember, a scholarly source will have the following:
     •    Author(s) name included
     •    Technical or specialized language
     •    Written for professionals
     •    Charts, graphs, and diagrams
     •    Long ( 5 or more pages)
     •    Bibliography/References included
Also scholarly sources will be peer reviewed, beware of cites like sciencedirect.com which allows “open access” meaning a                        writer can just pay to publish. Anything from an “open access” cite cannot be considered scholarly.
Writing Prompt: Remote sensing is vital for terrestrial applications. In this paper, analyze the importance of                                                 remote sensing and present an argument for which Earth orbit is most advantageous for remote sensing.
3. (42 pts) For the writing prompt in question 2, create an outline for a research paper.  Use the writing guideline format (attached). Please make your outline as complete as possible; it should include at least one level of subtopics for each of the main points in your paper and it should also show where each of the five scholarly sources from question 2 will be used in the paper.  The more detailed your outline is, the better the feedback I’ll be able to give. Note that ‘more detailed’ does not mean that you should be writing paragraphs for each level; instead, it means that you should write a clear, focused, specific sentence for each part rather than a general or vague statement.  The writing guideline is an excellent way to help you organize your thoughts and your paper.

Week 2 Homework: Research Paper Outline
This week, your homework is to create an outline using the attached writing guideline for the research paper which is due at the end of week 3. The prompt for the Week 3 paper is:
“Comparative Planetology is a key research framework used in solar system and planetary research.  Comparative planetology involves using what is known about Earth to better understand other planets.  Extensive data about processes on Earth can be gathered using a variety of methods (many of which are not currently possible on other planets). By comparing and contrasting the differences between Earth and other planets, scientists can use what is known about Earth to infer information about processes on other planets. For this paper, choose one specific topic (such as planetary atmospheres, planet formation, planetary composition or geology, planetary magnetic fields, or another topic approved by the instructor).  Research the topic in detail and then write a paper describing exactly how comparative planetology applies to the topic and how it helps to better understand this characteristic of the planets in the solar system.”
Please make your outline as complete as possible; it should include at least one level of subtopics for each of the main points in your paper (see attached outline for an example of what a detailed outline should look like) and it should also include at least three scholarly sources that will be used in your paper. Remember, a scholarly source will have the following:
     •    Author(s) name included
     •    Technical or specialized language
     •    Written for professionals
     •    Charts, graphs, and diagrams
     •    Long (Five or more pages)
     •    Bibliography/References included
Sources listed in your outline and template should be scholarly, peer reviewed sources that you intend to use in your paper; news articles and general webpages are not appropriate sources. Beware of sites like sciencedirect.com which allow “open access” meaning a writer can just pay to publish (no peer review). Anything from an “open access” site cannot be considered scholarly.
The reference list does not have to be complete at this point.
The more detailed your outline is, the better feedback I’ll be able to give.
NOTE, and this applies to all papers in this class: If you are using editing software like Grammarly, write your paper without using the editing software first, save that version, then use the editing software to correct your paper, and turn in both papers (and label them “before” and “after”. Editing software can increase a paper’s AI score. A paper with a high AI score will be considered invalid unless accompanied by proof it is original work.

Week 4 Homework: Research Paper Outline
This week, your homework is to create an outline for the research paper which is due at the end of week 5. The prompt for the Week 5 paper is:
“Today, satellites are used for many applications, which can be broadly grouped in one of three categories: security/defense, scientific study, and commercial applications. For this paper, choose one of these categories, research it in depth, briefly discuss the past and present of this category, and then present ideas for the next major advancement (specific system or technology) or direction for future development in this area. Ideas should be evidence based and well supported. Ideas should be possible within the next 5-10 years.”

Week 6 Homework: Research Paper Outline
This week, your homework is to create an outline for the research paper which is due at the end of week 7. Research and discuss the significance of this mission. How does it add to NASA’s overall goals? Note: to be considered “current” in this assignment, the mission should have been launched no later than 2010; planned missions that will launch within the next 5 years are also acceptable.”
You will submit your choice of mission in the Week 6 Topic Choice Forum.  Each student must choose a different mission for their paper;  post early to get your first choice!
Please make your outline as complete as possible; it should include at least one level of subtopics for each of the main points in your paper (see attached outline for an example of what a detailed outline should look like) and it should also include at least three scholarly sources that will be used in your paper.
