1. Supply Chain Process for Service – Based Businesses
Choose the three businesses you would like to work on per the requirements outlined in Portfolio Project Option 1. Examine the supply chain management issues including concerns supply chain strategies and goals, logistics and distribution networks, and forecasting and aggregate planning.

In a half-page to one page, give an overview of the businesses you have chosen and supply chain management issues to be covered in more detail in your final Portfolio Project.
Let’s practice cooperative learning. To do that, reach out to at least one other fellow classmate and discuss the supply chain issues of importance concerning the three businesses you have chosen. You are NOT producing an assignment together but rather engaging in a sharing of research and informed opinion. Include in this week’s Milestone paper the name(s) of the other student(s) with whom you are in cooperative discussion and provide a summary of your discussions and what you have learned. (Your classmate does not need to be completing the same Portfolio Project/Milestone option as you. The goal here is to simply enhance your learning about supply chain issues through sharing and debate.)
Include one current (published in the most recent five years) credible source from the CSU Global Library (available in the left-hand navigation panel) that you are likely to use in your final paper exclusive of any course textbooks or lecture material.

2. Supply Chain Process for Services – Based Businesses
A work-in-progress outline of your Portfolio Project is due this week. Having committed to the Portfolio Project Option 1, continue to work on and expand the outline for the three businesses you have chosen.
Incorporate into your high-level Portfolio Project paper the key elements related to each of the numbered items contained in the instruction of the Portfolio Project Option 1. Continue to conduct scholarly research on supply chain concepts and topics covered in the course so far, and consider how you are going to apply those concepts to the Portfolio Project.
Submission Requirements
Provide a detailed outline, and include a title page, an introduction, and a reference page.
Add citation references supporting your key element items to the Portfolio Project reference list.
As always, format your submission according to the CSU Global Writing Center (available in the left-hand navigation panel).
3. Supply Chain Process for Service – Based Businesses
Select three different service-based firms in different businesses. For example, you might choose a tax preparation, hospital bill auditing, computer repair, packing service, or tutoring business, or any of many others. In any case, choose three unique service-based businesses (not 3 auditing businesses, not 2 computer repair businesses, but 3 businesses with different types of services).
Explain, in general, supply chains for service-based businesses.
Discuss specifically the supply chain for each of your 3 chosen service-based businesses and also explain how and why the supply chains are similar and dissimilar.
Describe how each of your chosen firms forecasts for production planning. What options exist for forecasting in service-based business, and how does each firm actually determine its forecasts?
Describe how each of your chosen firms manages quality. What options exist for quality control in service-based business, and how does each firm actually perform quality control?
Describe how each of your chosen firms selects suppliers/service-providers and monitors those suppliers/service-providers. What options exist for supplier selection in service-based business, and how does each firm actually select suppliers and monitor the delivery of supplier materials or services?
Explain how your chosen service-based businesses use and handle the following: inventory control, production planning, outsourcing, and revenue management.
Identify three of the ethical considerations in the operations of the chosen businesses, and explain how these businesses’ decisions may influence the way these businesses perform their social responsibilities.
Submission Requirements
Write a paper addressing the items above. Your paper should be 5-6 pages in length, not including the required title and references pages and appendix, if any.
Be sure to properly organize your writing and include an introduction, headings / subheadings for the body of your work, discussion recommendations, and a conclusion.
Support the paper with a minimum of three current (published in the most recent five years) credible sources from the CSU Global Library (available in the left-hand navigation panel). This is in addition to any course textbooks or lecture material you decide to use. Of course, you may always exceed the minimum number of sources.
