April 30, 2024

The work will be three short essays. Each will be a full page long (double placed, times new roman font 12) so together they will be three pages (submitted altogether in one word document). You must cite information from the textbook and my lectures (powerpoints of the lectures are to be found in the files tab) and you may not use any quotes. The text of the essay is your own writing but you still must cite the textbook pages and slide numbers of the powerpoints you are using. You can use footnotes, end notes, in text parenthetical citations, however you’d like to do it. DO NOT USE RESOURCES FROM ONLINE, ONLY USE OUR TEXTBOOK AND MY LECTURES.
Write a full page (double spaced, times new roman font size 12, cite sources in any style you prefer but you must cite) answer for each question (meaning three pages, one page for each prompt):
1. In what ways did reconstruction in the South “change everything and change nothing”? Describe the successes and failures of federal reconstruction in the post civil war era. (be sure to explain what changed and what ended upp staying the same)
2. What events ultimately pushed the United States into World War 1? Identify the major events that led America to declare war against Germany in World War 1 and explain their impact. (be sure to explain why AMERICA entered the war and do not explain how world war 1 started in 1914)
3. Evaluate the FDR administration. Be sure to analyze the successes and failures of the administration and their legacy. (be sure to mention both INTERNATIONAL and DOMESTIC events)
-Explanation about NOT USING QUOTES but still needing to cite:
What I mean by that is that I don’t want you directly using quotes from the textbook or quotes from historical figures. I want everything to be in your words. Now obviously the information you’ll be using will still be from other sources, the online textbook and my powerpoints, so when you get specific information you will still cite that that information is from a certain slide or a certain page etc since that idea is not an original idea of your own, so you need to give credit to where you found it. These essays are too small to be using quotes, and often times students use unnecessary quotes in order to fill up space.
PLEASE ONLY USE THE TEXTBOOK SOURCE I HAVE ADDED INTO THE FILES TO CITE FROM, DO NOT USE OUTSIDE SOURCES (ONLINE ARTICULES, NOTHING LIKE THAT). NO QUOTES JUST CITE WHERE THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT CAME FROM.
