Follow the theoretical perspective used by Henslin to apply your social problem topic from each of the perspectives (Structural Functionalism, Symbolic Interactionism, Conflict). You will introduce the social problem and then present an analysis of this social problem through the lens of each perspective.
Select one of the theories (perspectives) as the best way to analyze this social problem. Explain why you chose that perspective and develop at least two social policies to reduce this problem.
You will need to find two scholarly journal articles and one website to complete your Social Problems final. Be sure to select research that is relevant to the topic and published within the last two years. You will need to not only list your citations, but you will need to cite within the presentation your articles and website.
There is no right or wrong answer in terms of which social problem and perspective you select. Rather, your PowerPoint will be graded on how well you describe the social problem, explain the sociological perspective, and apply the sociological perspective to the problem. The goal is to generate critical thinking about one issue and theory: describe, analyze, and evaluate!
