April 21, 2024

The Semester project is an assignment in which you will complete a thorough review of the literature regarding the public health related topic you have selected and approved by the instructor. I have a firm and broad understanding of topics and will review each to provide feedback before you start the literature review. The project must identify a specific public health in which each student is expected to identify a disease, condition, or related public health problem and discuss the literature related to the topic of choice. Such information (within the literature review) should include the occurrence of the disease, its risk factors, possible confounding factors, and its public health importance.
You are expected to present a coherent plan on how you seek to analyze public health problem. You must use the library resources (including the Library Module in the course) to local scholarly articles for the literature review. This review of literature will lead to the formulation of a testable hypothesis regarding this public health topic. You can only use peer-reviewed journals articles. You cannot use Wikipedia or any other portal like it, that is not peer reviewed. Doing so will results in deduction of points. As a UWF student you have access to the Library resources, either in person or remotely. I strongly suggest that you start working on the project as soon as possible in order to develop a quality product
In the past some students have used the following sites to help identify areas of possible research (These are suggestions, not requirements for the project):
Grants.Gov (Http://www.grants.govLinks to an external site.): A Federal Government website for all types of grants and areas of priority in the health fields.
Your own state health Department of Health priority areas
In these you have to identify their strategic plan
Professional society/organizations – Thematic Areas
g American Public Health Association’s could be interested in the role of; Place and Health
Industrial or Occupational Health organizations
Submission Requirements – What To Submit
The final proposal is due near the end of the semester. The paper must include a Introduction section, rational for choosing this subject, methods section, which will describe the approach the student has chosen to test the proposal hypothesis, a data analysis plan, and what will be your recommendations based on the all possible study outcomes. In regards to the proposed study design, a rationale for choosing that design must be delineated, and include a thorough discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the design. The proposal must also include a statistical analytical plan, including a description of the methods for measuring study outcomes, risk factors and potential confounding variables, and identify potential measurement errors.
You will submit one document in MS. Word. You are responsible for making sure that the project is proofread for grammar and that it meet the project guidelines. The final project will include the following general sections ( Please Do not Number your sections in the paper). Your submission will consist of a document with the following major sections
