The preservice teacher will analyze and interpret a class set of demographic and assessment data and develop a narrative report to communicate the findings. The written report will include data tables and figures, a narrative describing the class data set, written recommendations based on credible cited sources, and will address all of the following:
demographic and other background information about the class
a description of the all demographic and assessment data including literacy assessment data
an explanation and interpretation of all the data
a comparison of the class assessment data to district and state scores – Use the document and link below to assist in the comparison.
recommendations, based on the results of formative and summative assessments, for standards-based instruction for all students (SWD, LEP, gifted) to make good academic progress including citations from credible sources
recommendations for instructional enhancements, modifications, interventions, and/or accommodations based on the data to accommodate learning styles and varying levels of knowledge, with a rationale for each including citations from credible sources
recommendations for any assessment enhancements, modifications, interventions, and/or accommodations based on the data to accommodate learning styles and varying levels of knowledge, with a rationale for each including citations from credible sources
Prepare this narrative report as one that you would present to your school site administrator. Describe your class set of data from multiple sources. Include a description of the purpose of each assessment tool. Provide a summary of information about student progress, achievement, and learning gains and your interpretation of all the data. Articulate your plans for character-based classroom management and instructional interventions based on your interpretation of the data to monitor student progress, mastery, and learning gains, ensuring all students in your class data set are able to make good academic progress.
This report should be written as a professional report that your peers and supervisors can understand. Therefore, you will employ the use of academic/assessment language throughout the report as you describe student data including:
achievement level
developmental score
scale score
norm-referenced, criterion-referenced, and diagnostic data results
demographic variables (race, free/reduced lunch)
the identification of students by subgroup (SWD, LEP)
issues of retention from previous year.
