The paper is about everything regarding the Black Panther Party in Illinois, Chicago such as how and where they originated, what was their mission, the makeup of their demographic and who they catered to, public/government perception of the party, government suppression of the party, and the reason behind their disbursement. Also discuss how their ideals would be perceived in modern times, and if/how public perception of the party has shifted over time.
GRADING
• Engagement with sources–do you use your sources not only to provide factual information but do you also analyze what they say, compare them to each other, and in other ways engage critically with them?
• Presence of a thesis and a conclusion–does your paper ultimately make an argument about the importance of viewing The 1960s through the lens you’ve chosen?
• Creativity–did you find interesting and inventive ways to explore your topic?
• Clarity and Organization–does your paper have a good level of detail and is your information laid out in a way that makes sense? That is, do your different paragraphs build on each other and occur in an order that enhances the paper?
CITATION REQUIREMENTS: This assignment should include a works cited page. You should have at least 6 sources, with at least 3 being primary sources. You can count one source we’ve used in class toward your total. Specific needs you have may vary depending on your topic; feel free to check in with me about whether you have enough sources, or if you want to consult me about where to find more. Within the final paper, you should cite your information using footnotes in Turabian/Chicago style
