Structure of Paper

HDF 213 Sexuality Resources Report:

To assist you in becoming more knowledgeable and critical of organizations and resources related to sexuality, you will be providing a short, written assessment on several Internet resources as part of your final grade. Pick one of the web sites from the list below and then another that is not on the list. Your assignment is to evaluate the websites and write a 3-page, double-spaced report on the following aspects for each site (a total of six pages). Your final paper should not exceed 7 pages. The paper is worth 40 points total. Note: Papers must be double spaced, written in twelve point font, and with margins no narrower than one inch. Two points will be deducted each day the paper is late.

Please remember that you cannot simply cut and paste content from the site unless you cite it appropriately using the APA guidelines – if not you are plagiarizing. Rather, you should give a synopsis of the content using your own words. Please use the main headings below (the numbered ones) and write in a narrative format (not bullets):

  1. The website (this background section should not exceed a half page):
  • What is the name of each resource you have researched?
  • What is the URL or web address of each resource?
  • What is the mission/purpose of each organization or site? (if the site actually includes the organization’s mission statement, please quote it).
  • Who manages the websites? (such as a local or national government, a college or university, a special interest group, a nationally recognized organization, etc.
  1. Website Content:
  • Provide a brief overview of the content of the site. What are some of the subjects covered?
  • What resources are available on the websites? (such as information, current events, statistics, programming suggestions, contacts to professionals, opportunities for certification, education & degrees, internships, activism, volunteering or membership, and so on – please be specific and provide examples.
  • Do these organizations or websites have any current projects underway that are relevant to the field of sexuality? (examples – AIDS initiatives, march on Washington, new ad campaign, peer education program, court case, and so on.)
  1. Evaluation
    • How would you rate the quality of the content? Explain.
    • Does the information seem to be up-to-date and unbiased? Why do you think this?
    • Who is the intended audience? Is the site geared towards college students, adolescents, parents, adults, professionals, and everyone? Please elaborate on your opinion.
  2. Conclusion
    • Overall, was this a useful site?
    • Would you recommend this site to a friend or colleague? Why or why not?
    • What does this site offer that is different from other sources of information available for this course?

Internet Resources to Choose From (pick one from this list and then select one from another site of your choosing):

Note: If reviewing general sites with multiple areas of focus, such as AAP, NOW or WHO, you must focus on the aspects of the site that is related to sexuality.
