Objectives:
Your paper will need to
clearly address each of the following sections using the following
headings/subheadings in APA 7th Edition Format:
1. Title of your paper
(this should start the Literature Review section of your paper about your behavioural
technique)
a.
Discuss ONE of the following topics in this section in regard to
your behavioural technique
that you chose to use during the semester: (1) is the behavioural technique an empirically
valid treatment approach, (2) are there certain problem behaviours in which the
behavioural technique is best utilized, (3) are there populations of clients
that the behavioural technique is best suited for or contraindicated, (4)
what are the cultural considerations when using this behavioural technique,
(5) what are the ethical concerns when using this behavioural technique, or (6) a discussion of
your own choosing about the behavioural
technique
b. You must include 2
empirical research articles. These empirical articles are not about your target
behaviour, but about your behavioural technique used. For example, if you chose
positive reinforcement for study habits, you need 2 empirical articles about
positive reinforcement, not about study habits.
2. Behaviour Change Project Summary – Include a
brief introduction paragraph reorienting the reader to your behavioural plan. Then, to
build on this initial Part A paper, please answer the three (3) below parts:
a. Understanding Context and Behaviour Intervention
Plan – Discuss the context in which
your target behaviour occurred during the 1-week Baseline Observation (i.e., identify what
conditions/situations increased or decreased the behaviours without any
interventions). Discuss specific information about how your Baseline Observation
data impacted your measurement/tracking plan for your target behaviour during
your 3-week Intervention period (e.g., did you have to
change your monitoring
approaches, or did it remain the same?).
b. Evaluating Progress and
Goal Achievement – Describe your progress over the 3- week period when
implementing your Behaviour Intervention Plan and achieving your goal. Reflect on any obstacles
you had and why you think these may
have impacted your progress. What, if any, adaptations (e.g., changes to the technique, introduction
of a new behavioural change technique, and/or changes to measurement
strategies) did you make throughout the rest of your 3-week Behaviour Intervention
Plan?
c. Generalization and
Maintenance of Behaviour Change – Now that you have finished your 3-week
Behaviour Intervention Plan period, discuss your plan to generalize and/or
maintain this goal over time. Be specific about what behavioural techniques
you may need to use to generalize and/or maintain your progress, how you will
monitor your generalization/maintenance (specific ways you’ll measure this),
what tapering schedule you may use for your intervention over time, and how you
may recognize relapse.
3.
Self-Reflection – This self-reflection section should be for you
to demonstrate your reflective
thinking, analysis of your learning experience in the course thus far, and ability to make direct
connections between the content of the course and your life. Specifically, I want you
to discuss three (3) potential connections between the content of this course and:
a. Your experiences in one
(1) previous psychology course
b. One (1) life experience
you’ve had in the context of behavioural change.
c. One (1) of your future
professional goals
