The essay is due on the 30th, but there are two assigments that I need to submit on the 23rd in reference with the sources that are to be used on the essay. They are
1. Please provide MLA citations for three sources you are planning on using for your Protest Music Essay. One should be a scholarly source! Remember, no songfacts, songmeaning, geniuslyrics, etc type stuff.
As a reminder, here is the MLA citation for a scholarly source. There’s a bit more info to find, and it can be hidden in different places, so do your best! There’s also a video walking you through it under Helpful Resources where the other MLA resources can be found. You can also check it out here.
Last name, First name. “Article Title.” Journal title, vol. #, no. #, date, pp. #-#.
Database, doi. Accessed day month year.
*Note: Google Scholar is not considered a database, so if you used Google Scholar, just leave the Database section blank.
2. Once you’ve found your scholarly source, I’d like you to reflect on the process.
How did you find this source? What search method did you use? Did you have to modify your search terms or use the filter options? How do you know this source is scholarly? Look up the author (sometimes you can click their name and get a bio, sometimes you have to Google them). What makes them an expert in this field? Look up the journal. what can you tell me about that?
For the article itself, what do you think will be useful? Are there sections you don’t understand? Remember, these articles are written for other experts in the field, so don’t be surprised if there are sections or terms that you don’t quite understand yet. That’s to be expected! What do you understand from the article and how do you think you might use it?
