The Cuban Revolution was a defining moment in the history of the Cuban nation. The revolution promised a better life for the majority of people on the island and an equal society through socialism. For some, the revolution was just that, an opportunity for a better a life. For others, the revolution represented an untenable negative force and a scourge on the Cuban people. This conflict split the Cuban nation caused over a million Cubans to leave the island.
For the final exam, you will write both why you would have decided to stay in Cuba and continue to support the revolution and why you would have decided to leave the island and go into exile.
YOU MAY NOT USE SOURCES FROM OUTSIDE OF THE SYLLABUS!!
For the first part of the exam please use the readings from class as evidence to discuss why you would have remained on the island and participated in the revolution. In what programs would you have participated? What challenges would you have faced? And what are the reasons for your wanting to be part of the revolutionary cause? You will need to include detailed examples from at least two articles on Moodle to make your case.
For the second part of the exam please describe your decision to leave the island, in what wave of exiles would you have left, what challenges you would have faced, and the reasons for your leaving. You need to include detailed examples from at least two articles on Moodle to make your case.
Please type 5-6 double-spaced pages (Times New Roman 12-point 1-inch margins)
