The Assignment: This paper must be a minimum seven pages in length, double-spaced with standard font (12, Times New Roman) and margins. The written essay will be graded out of 400 points possible; moreover, research components that are collected separately add an additional 100 points to the assignment.
Required Sources(minimum)(note: sources may not be shared):
* 2 scholarly ebooks from BC library—must be approved by Doyen
* 3 articles from three different academic journals from BC library databases (must be approved by Doyen)
The research paper doesn’t consist merely of a string of references; rather, it consists first and foremost of your own ideas regarding your topic. This is an argument paper–not a report. Some topics like gun control or euthanasia lend themselves to easily taking a side to argue, but that doesn’t mean you should shy away from autism or ADHD or PTSD or addiction as a topic; let’s have you look through your sources and determine something to argue. Then, use your sources in conjunction with your own ideas. Consider the use of sources in three ways. First, refer to a book or article in order to back-up or support an idea of your own. Second, rather than used as support, you might view some sources as existing alongside your own ideas. Last, you may present an idea contained in a book or article and then respond to it. These are three different but related ways to approach the use of your research findings.
