The aim of the essay is to respond to the assigned question by reading, interpreting, and applying the content of two scholarly articles. As such, each question will be accompanied by TWO mandatory readings, thus providing you with an opportunity to make connections with course material, the course text, and the contemporary world of sport and kinesiology. Essays must be typed, double spaced, 12” font, and follow APA referencing guidelines for in text citations.
Writing tips:
MUST be a minimum of 3-4 pages (not including title and reference pages) and MUST directly reference both required readings.
Avoid long direct quotes. You are being assessed on how you can explain and interpret ideas from the course and journal readings in your own words.
Be sure to directly reference and cite the journal readings and, if relevant, the course textbook in your answers. Additional outside sources are encouraged, but not mandatory.
Ground your answers in the history covered in the relevant level of the class. If the journal prompt question is in level 2, then ONLY use content from level 2 to answer the question.
If the question asks for examples then it is important you use examples.
Although we encourage you to make connections with the world of Kinesiology today, the focus of your answer should be on the content of the readings.
