For this assignment, you will compose and record a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for a target population.
Step 1. Identify
Consult credible databases to identify a health concern that exists among one cultural aggregate.
Select a subject you are passionate about.
Keep your focus narrow and to the point.
Describe your findings: age group, gender, culture, the health concern, and aligned data.
Step 2. Review
Review the literature and credible websites (.org, .gov, .edu) for current information regarding your target audience’s cultural preferences, motivations, and “turn-offs.”
Step 3. Interpret
Interpret your findings to prepare an informational public service announcement (PSA). Identify driving and restraining forces to provide culturally appropriate and age-specific patient-centered education.
Step 4. Compose
Compose a sсrіpt for your PSA, keeping it to a few simple statements. Emphasize major points you want to make and include accurate/current data.
Be mindful of effective strategies that elicit motivation among your audience based on age and culture. For example, different types of humor or elements of shock should be used for different age groups or different cultural backgrounds.
A Public Service Announcement 30-60 seconds in length often emphasizes 5-10 statements.
Next, incorporate:
Culturally preferred and age appropriate visuals,
Culturally preferred and age appropriate music and/or sound effects
Step 5. Create
Record a 30- to 60-second video PSA using the Zoom tool.
Step 6. Submit
Submit an APA-formatted title page and references page with a minimum of 2 references. On the title page, include the title of your PSA and the desсrіption of the target audience. In a separate file, submit your PSA video.
