Summative assessment criteria: AHH2095-N-BL1-2023 Promoting Adult Nursing Proficiency: Developing Evidence-based Professional Care and Caring. 2000 Word assignment. No 10% leway. 
The summative assessment for this component will comprise of a 2,000-word written analysis of the concepts underpinning care linked to the episode of care assessment undertaken as part of the Practice Assessment Document essential evidence.
The student will analyse and explore the concepts of compassion and professional nurse caring and how they have applied their understanding to the care of adults, their families/ carers.
Introduction, set scene, acknowledge consent was obtained.
Briefly discuss why patient was chosen may include statistics etc. relating to long term condition, or reason for current admission, provide an overview of their journey – normally focus on diagnosis and reason for care delivery. It is important to keep this aspect concise, as 2,000 words is not much once you start writing.
Students will be assessed on their ability to:
1.Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of key concepts and theories which underpin the nursing care given within the episode of care assessment
May include: the nursing process BUT remember you are just looking at assessment, not planning, implementation or evaluation. Also communication strategies, the NMC Code, government and professional documents, person and family centred care, holism and parity of esteem.
2.Critically analyse the fundamental mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural needs of the Adult
May include: Physical needs / care – vital signs, assessment, risk assessment tools, interventions, impact on activities of daily living
Emotional / mental health care needs – e.g. fear, pain, anxiety, promoting independence, 6Cs, therapeutic touch, compassion, empathy
Cognitive / behavioural needs – consent, capacity, person centred care, reasonable adjustments, equality act, ethical care, concept of justice
3.Demonstrate a deep understanding of the theories and concepts of partnership, collaboration and inter-professional working recognising competing perspective across health and social care settings
Advantages and limitations of MDT working and collaboration linked to the individual, promoting inclusion and decision making, potential power imbalances.
This may include family/ carer focus, health care professionals from acute and community settings.
4.Adhere to the School of Health & Social Care policy for confidentiality and consent
