Submit your paper for my critique as well as your peers. DUE DATE: SUNDAY, APRIL

April 12, 2024

Submit your paper for my critique as well as your peers. DUE DATE: SUNDAY, APRIL 14. THIS IS A FIRM DEADLINE. PEER REVIEW DEADLINE IS THE 15TH.
At this time of year, we are encouraged to donate our time or money to a charity or community organization, like a food bank. Your mission will be to investigate a charity or organization of your choice. The charity can be well recognized, like UNICEF or the Red Cross, or one that’s much smaller and deals with a local population. You are encouraged to visit the charity or organization, if you can. If you do visit, describe your experience.
Not all charities are legitimate or run properly. Conduct research on this organization. What is its mission? Who does it serve? Who is on the board? Who is the volunteers? How is the money spent? Is the charity/organization fulfilling its mission or its purpose? Why or why not?
These are only a few questions to ask yourself as you work on this paper. In short, you’ll be evaluating the charity or organization critically. Please review the materials in Module 2 about this paper.
In addition, you’ll need to conduct research on the problem the organization addresses. For instance, homelessness for a homeless shelter in Los Angeles or pet overpopulation for an animal shelter or rescue.
This paper will be due in stages. First, a Research Prospectus will be due on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4.  This one-to-two page document will tell me what you plan to do for your paper and why.  Don’t forget to record your preconceptions.  Next, an Annotated Bibliography will be due on SUNDAY, MARCH 10.  This is a list of at least five sources you will be using in your paper.  This assignments looks like a Works Cited page; however, it also contains one or two sentences, after each citation, which explains how the source is helping you to write the paper.  Here’s an example:
Smith, Mary. The Water Crisis. Bantam, 2017.
This source details the problem of worldwide water shortages.
*Please do not include the annotations for the workshop and final drafts for this paper.  They are not necessary.
A draft workshop of the research paper will follow on SUNDAY, APRIL 14.  Your peers and I will be looking at this assignment. You MUST have a completed draft of the paper by this time to receive credit for the workshop.  The final draft will be due on SUNDAY, APRIL 21.  I am expecting eight-to-ten typed pages of text, along with six to nine varied, quality sources (in short, don’t use all online sources).  You must use at least one Internet source, one periodical source, and one personal interview (The interview is optional–during this time of COVID, you shouldn’t be meeting in person.). You must also use at least one scholarly source (that found in a library, either print or online).
Wikipedia is not an acceptable source for this assignment or for any assignment in this class. This paper must be written in MLA format; no other format will be acceptable.
Penalties:
No Works Cited page, no parenthetical documentation, or using other “creative” forms of documentation (including APA)—automatic zero
Despite the rigors of this assignment, most people find that they enjoy working on their papers. Enjoy!
