Review the “outline PowerPoint week 4” in pages before attempting this assignment.
This week, you will construct a full outline for your paper due in week 5.

First, read the information on outlines in the “pages” section of Canvas.
You may use the sample outlines as a guide to help create your outline.
The outline will help identify the main elements necessary to compose an effective essay.
Select a topic, find relevant sources from the library, and then complete the outline,
Conduct Research.
This is an outline for an article response essay due in week 5.
Find an article on your chosen topic (see topics below). Select articles from reputable sources such as news magazines or scholarly journals.
Find two other articles; one to support your response to the argument and one against it.
In the introduction, you will summarize the first article, so include only the main points in the outline.
Compose the thesis statement.  The thesis is usually the last sentence of the introduction, and it should contain three main ideas to be discussed in the essay. See the format for the thesis statement:
Follow this format for your THESIS:  Title of article____________ author’s name, ____________ Insert verb____________  and author’s position or main point. What would someone agree with?  Why would someone disagree?

Build the essay from the thesis statement.
The counterargument can be presented in a separate paragraph, or it can be presented point-by-point. Include citations.
The conclusion should restate the thesis statement, summarize the essay’s main points, and end with a closing point or a call for action.
Include the reference page.
Choose a topic below and find at least three sources to support your essay.
You will need one article to summarize, one to support the main argument, and another for a counterargument.
