Submit a 10 page paper in which you present your current personal leadership framework. A leadership framework

June 13, 2021
Christopher R. Teeple

Submit a 10 page paper in which you present your current personal leadership framework. A leadership framework is an organized set of ideas that help you understand the roles of leaders and followers in different leadership situations so that you can perform your own leadership and follower roles, help others to perform their leadership and followership roles, develop yourself and others for leadership and followership, and think critically about what you read and hear about leadership and followership from this day forth. Your work especially should reflect sensitivity to the ethical dimension of leadership. You should also take the context of leadership into account in terms of how it supports or limits leaders and followers and how it might impact ethical decision making and conduct. This paper does not mean that you are merely to summarize the course content. On the contrary, it means that you should give evidence of having thought critically about the major issues and concepts you have encountered in this course. For example, if you incorporate something you learned this semester, explain why you find the idea(s) particularly useful. Similarly, you should explain why you have rejected a major idea(s), if you do so. You also should inductively develop ideas about leadership and followership that reflect your engagement with the course content. You may consult journal and other sources beyond those you have been assigned during the semester to support your paper. This paper should be a statement of how you think about leadership now based on what you have read, observed or heard this semester. It should reflect your ideas. It should be a statement of what you think about leadership that you can actually live by for the near term as you gain more experience and knowledge. It should be a useful guide to you in future leadership situations, and it should be something you would be proud to give to someone who knows nothing about leadership. It should have the potential to help someone else
become a better leader and a more effective follower in the first two-three decades of the 21stcentury.The basic framework should include, as a minimum, your answers to the following:1. Definitions of basic concepts (e.g., leadership and followership)2. Identification and discussion of some of the basic issues or controversies and how you viewthem (e. g., is leadership learned or innate, are there gender differences in leadership, how is leadership different from management, how does leadership vary from one context to another and why, the importance of character and ethics)3. Theoretical basis: Upon which model(s) are you building your framework? Why? 4. Values: What core values will form the foundation of your framework?5. Maintenance: How will you keep your framework current?6. Stakeholder involvement: Who will you involve in the construction and maintenance of your framework? 7. Self-assessment: How often and through what means will you get feedback on your performance as a leader? You may cite the work of others, and you may also adopt or reject the ideas of others as long as you are able to explain why you choose to do so. Useful criteria for accepting for or rejecting the work of others include research, experience, and practicality. Each student will develop his or her own leadership framework and will be assessed on the depth of their thought, the thoroughness of their responses to the key points outlined above, the quality of their writing (grammar, spelling, punctuation), and the effective use of graphics to illustrate concepts.F. “Commitment to Leadership Action” Group Project: The goal of this assignment is to help you apply what you have learned in class; therefore, during the semester you will be required to meet with an assigned group to work as a team to develop and present a “Commitment to Leadership Action” plan on an ethics and leadership topic. Your group will choose an ethics and leadership topic to develop a plan that addresses a pressing ethical leadership challenge in one of the following areas: Education, Business, the Environment, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation, or Healthcare. This project will allow you to develop ideas and detailed and specific plans of action that will produce measurable results within one of these areas. Your group must incorporate the ideas/concepts of ethics and leadership into your “Commitment to Leadership Action” plan. You will utilize academic/scholarly sources from the library to conduct research on your topic. Please do not use internet sources and/or articles. Your “Commitment to Leadership Action” is a specific and measurable plan that addresses a challenge in your work environment, local community, or around the world. Your group will submit a plan that will address the following components:A. Define a leadership ethical issue you have selected and its relevance to your topic areaB. Provide an explanation of how the issue has developed or changed over timeC. Give examples of cases involving this ethical issueD. Give an explanation about what you think should be done to address this issueE. Back up your opinion/solution with ethical concepts you’ve learned in the course and scholarly referencesF. Your paper must be written in APA format and must be at least 15 pages in length excluding the cover page and reference page(s). G.Class Participation:Class Participation, Punctuality, and Attendance: Students are expected to fully participate in class discussions and in completing the assignments in a timely fashion.
