Students will write two 3-5 page papers on a topic of interest within the course. The topic
can be any of the below options or a topic approved by your Professor ahead of time (at least
10 days prior to the due date).

Topic 4: Community Resilience and Collective Efficacy – Explore the concepts of
collective efficacy and community resilience within community psychology. Using
empirical research and case studies, critically evaluate the factors that contribute to
the role of collective action and community resilience in promoting community well-
being. Discuss ways community psychologists can help foster collective efficacy
and resilience through strengths-based approaches as well as community
mobilization strategies.
Topic 5: Cultural Competence and Diversity – Analyze the importance of cultural
competence and diversity in community psychology practice. Drawing on empirical
evidence and theoretical frameworks, examine the opportunities and challenges of
working with diverse communities. Discuss strategies for promoting cultural
humility, equity, and inclusion in interventions, research and community
partnerships within the field of community psychology.
