Students will work in assigned groups to develop and present a case study of a person with opioid use disorder. The case can be based on an actual or imagined person.
The case study should include the following details within three sections:
Service and Problem Statement
setting in which they are seeking services
status of engagement (mandated/involuntary or voluntary)
demographic characteristics (e.g., age, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, marital status)
description of drug use (e.g., what types of opioids, how often, how much, how they are consuming it)
timeline of drug use history
client’s description of the problem (in their own words)
Biopsychosocial Assessment 
biopsychosocial assessment (mental health, physical health, family relationships, social relationships, employment, legal)
identified harms of drug use and related behaviors to multiple life areas
current motivation for change (using the stages of change) related to their drug use and related behaviors
Engaging the Client Using Harm Reduction Counseling
