Students will select one of the popular culture videos listed below. After viewing the video, students will apply the suggested theory/theories to the video in a 4–5-page essay (excluding the required title page) typed as a Word document that is uploaded to Canvas. The paper should include a title, be double spaced, 1-inch margins, and in 12-point font, either Calibri or Times New Roman. Any other formats will receive a score of zero points. Links to online Word documents will not be accepted and will receive a score of zero. Any other document formats other than Word will not be accepted and will receive zero points. Students will discuss the propositions, concepts, maxims, paradigms, and theoretical ideas and then directly apply them to the movie, citing specific examples and instances of how the theory applies to the criminal/deviant acts and behaviors. how the theory explains the criminal/deviant behaviors of the character. Theories will be covered in the textbook and/or class discussions. Students may also apply other theories not suggested, but their application must be justified through the discussion of the application of theoretical concepts. Note: Because students are required to read the textbook, students are responsible for knowing all the theories presented regardless of whether they are covered in the course or not.
