1. Choose a GI disorder and find two recent and reputable studies that highlight a current question or hot topic in the field of study for that disease. To complete this, you must read as much as possible about the disease to get a sense of where the research is leading and the questions that are yet to be answered regarding the disease. You can focus on the treatments, etiology, debates, etc. Here are your steps to complete (these do not have to be in this order rather, just make sure all of it is included):
a. Choose a disease
b. READ as much as needed until a theme arises (are antibiotics the best treatment, genetics is the main cause, etc). Trust me. As you read, unanswered questions or debates will be evident.
c. Find two published articles or studies from reputable journals.
d. Summarize the experimental design for each study.
e. Analyze the conclusions. State whether you agree or disagree. Why do you agree or disagree, be very specific.
f. Make sure you give me the link to the journals/studies or attach it.
g. Basically, approach this as if you had a patient who had the disease and was asking you your opinion. A good physician’s opinions are backed with good science.
h. Lastly, you should include a detailed explanation of the disease. The explanation should expand on the information in the power point presentation rather than just restate the information already there. I would like to see that you have researched this disease.
